Slurry technology

Modern slurry tanker requirements a tricky business

HYDAC adept at meeting legal and social requirements of modern slurry tankers for optimal agricultural yields with little waste.

The aim of the modern slurry tanker is to produce a cost-effective increase in agricultural yield with minimum resources’ wastage.

The main objectives are larger working widths, continuous pressure supply for consistent slurry distribution, and slurry spread with precise quantities exactly as required.

Modern slurry tanker challenges

The technology and appearance of today’s working machines are determined by legal and social factors such as safety and emission directives and requirements relating to comfort, health, and safety.

How HYDAC assists modern slurry tankers?

HYDAC offers a variety of components and systems that meet contemporary legal and social requirements.

Comprehensive modular system

In addition to standard components, HYDAC offers a comprehensive modular system designed for slurry tanker applications. It also partners with customers to develop individual solutions for machines.

The company’s development team and application engineers work continuously to further develop products. The focus of these developments is on the following key topics.

HYDAC technology for modern slurry tankers

HYDAC optimally positions the slurry distribution head in the working position with sensitive control. Distance from the ground is maintained through use of fast-acting proportional valves in distance control.

This results in increased travelling speed and corrosion resistance due to surface coating and special materials.

The following reductions take place:

  • material stress due to boom suspension and damping;
  • piping and installation expenditure due to combined hydraulic function units;
  • mechanical stress due to axle and drawbar suspension;
  • noise emissions and power requirements due to controlled fan and pump speeds;
  • driver vibration load due to hydropneumatic cab suspension in self-propelled vehicles;
  • driver exposure to aerosols due to cabin ventilation systems;
  • hydraulic oil tank sizes via simulating and optimising air separation in hydraulic oil; and
  • installation space, component weight and electrical power requirements via reducing solenoid valve sizes.

“There is also a reduction in software development time though use of tested and certified software libraries,” a HYDAC spokesperson highlights.

Maintenance intervals are also extended through monitoring hydraulic oil quality.

Customer benefits when using HYDAC's slurry technology

The customer benefits from more efficient use of energy; reduced fuel consumption, hydraulic losses and electrical power requirements; and precise cooling-requirement temperature control.

Reduced hydraulic losses

As to reliability, software modules are certified, and service life is increased through protecting materials.

Noise reduction is achieved through a lower noise level in fan control partial-load range, and less space is taken up through combined functional units and integrated tank and filter systems.

Function integration results in a reduction of component numbers, weight, joints, and leakage points, and comfort is enhanced through an Improved working environment for the driver and sustained driver performance on longer jobs.

Finally, the customer benefits from reduced nitrogen oxide and CO2 emissions and compliance with emissions directives.
