In terms of oil hydraulics, a solenoid valve can be made to take on either spool or poppet form. In essence, a solenoid is an electromechanical device that contains a ferrous metal core inside a copper winding that’s referred to as a coil. A magnetic field is produced whenever an electrical current passes through the copper coil. This will either pull or keep the ferrous core away from the magnetic field, although which outcome occurs is subject to the level of its polarity. This polarity and magnetism will make the ferrous core move the attached spool of the hydraulic valve and as a result regulate which direction the oil will flow in when it travels through the valve.
In order for a valve to be 'proportional', the electrical signal to the winding is a regulated variable current, and the design of the spool ensures the oil will flow in a completely controlled manner.
Common Solenoid Valve Uses & Applications
Proportional hydraulic solenoid valve units are often used for both industrial hydraulic applications and mobile hydraulic applications. No matter what your organisation needs our units for, HYDAC can supply exactly what you need.
What is the Difference Between Industrial Hydraulics & Mobile Hydraulics?
Industrial hydraulics: These hydraulics can be used to regulate machines designed for all kinds of industry applications. This includes manufacturing applications where both high speed and high volume production is necessary to regulate how large cylinders or hydraulic motors operate, as well as water management applications where the hydraulic cylinders of a hydro-power generator manage what its slues gates do.
Mobile hydraulics: Proportional hydraulic valves play a vital role in regulating how a machine functions with incredible accuracy. This includes controlling a hydraulic crane’s boom and winch, how its forklift picks and places heavy materials, steering and driving a massive container ship, regulating the controls of large commercial aircraft, as well as other applications.
Hydraulics make it possible for various types of machines to operate and be beneficial to different industrial sectors. These hydraulics are in turn managed by proportional controlled solenoid valves.
