A check valve is a device that only allows the flow of fluids in one direction and blocks off the opposite direction.
Check valves therefore belong to the category of shut-off valves and are commonly referred to as non-return valves or one-way valves.
HYDAC Australia manufactures and supplies check valves for hydraulic systems to meet requirements across a range of industries.
Anatomy of a check valve
A check valve basically consists of a housing (casing) with an integrated valve seat, a tempered and ground closing element (cone) and a pressure spring.
Another design for check valves uses a ball as a closing element.
Shut-off valves from HYDAC are poppet and spool valves. They control the opening or closing of lines and other hydraulic components.
Check valve subcategories
Check valve subcategories include direct acting ball poppet, direct acting cartridge, direct acting cone poppet, ball poppet type, ball seat type, direct acting poppet type, and poppet type metric cartridge.
Other subcategories include check valve pilot to open, direct acting double check valve, needle valve with reverse flow check, and flow regulator with pressure compensator among others.
Some valves in stock include direct acting cartridge and direct acting, cone poppet for inline and manifold valves.
Direct acting cartridge - RVE-R 1/8 TO 1/2

The RVE design is a spring-loaded ball with standard cracking pressure of 0.5 bar.
Features include check valves for mounting directly into control blocks; axial and radial flow direction; choice of four sizes for optimum adaptability to the system; leakage-free poppet design for complete shut-off; and cracking pressures other than 0.5 bar available as an option.
Specifications
Specifications for the RVE are as follows:
- operating pressure: maximum of 350 bar
- nominal flow: RVE-G1/8 to maximum 10L/min, RVE-G1/4 to maximum 10L/min, RVE-G3/8 to maximum 30L/min, and RVE-G1/2 to maximum 60L/min
- media operating temperature range: minimum -20°C to maximum +120°C
- ambient temperature range: minimum -20°C to maximum +120°C
- operating fluid: hydraulic oil to DIN 51524 Part 1, 2 and 3 *viscosity range: minimum 2.8mm²/s to maximum 800mm²/s
Direct acting, cone poppet for inline and manifold - RV, RVP 06 – 40

RV and RVP shut-off function is provided by the spring-loaded cone poppet. The standard cracking pressure is 0.5 bar.
Features include check valves for mounting directly inline and directly onto control manifolds, choice of nine sizes to ensure best possible adaptability to the system, leak-free poppet design for complete shut-off, optional zinc-plated version (RVP) available, and cracking pressures other than 0.5 bar are available as an option.
