Pressure Reducing Valves

A pressure reducing valve is designed to reduce and control the water or air pressure that travels between the inlet and outlet sides to maintain pressure in specified areas of a hydraulic system. These valves come with a valve inlet nozzle that converts high pressure to reduce pressure at the outlet.

Pressure reducing valve units regulate fluctuating mains pressures and keep them at an appropriate level to prevent them from getting too high. These valves are activated whenever the pressure escalates in the area of the valve, blocking the flow to the controlled area until the pressure is below the set value. The valve will work in conjunction with a valve housing, a pressure spring-loaded piston and a piston slide valve to lower any incoming pressure down to a controllable and steady level.

The Benefits of Using a Pressure Reducing Valve

  • Reduced water pressure to decrease overall water consumption
  • Decreased energy costs, as heating systems will work more efficiently with water set at lower pressures
  • Overly high water pressure from a mains or tank supply will be limited, preventing damage from occurring
  • Less noise produced when the valve and tap are turned off
  • Produces a more consistent and improved flow water rate with various water usage applications
  • Better static pressure control and protection from ongoing pressure creep under low demand/no-flow conditions
